In our two FIRE DAYS we explore the methods of PRIMITIVE (8.1.23) and URBAN(5.2.23) fire making methods!
Primitive fire building skills are those skills focusing on starting fires without matches, lighters, or an excess of lighter fluid. They can be the difference between life and death in any sort of unexpected situation where the need to start a fire arises, but the ordinary supplies are not on hand, or even fail.
Matches are great, but if you get them even a bit damp, perhaps as you pull a co-adventurer out after they fall through the ice, they won’t even sputter.
There are more than 20 ways of PRIMITIVE FIRE MAKING METHODS.
In our PRIMITIVE FIRE DAY we explore some of them, like the bow drill, inuit fire making method, bamboo saw or the Ötzi fire.
On our urban fire making day we learn how to make fire with things that surround our daily life. A glass bottle, chewing gum paper with a battery or even an empty cellphone battery.
On both days you will learn the essentials of how to make fire without any equipment, which tinder sources you can use and how to set up and maintain a save fire even in wet conditions.
Program:

14.00h learning different fire making methods with practice
16.00h small snack at the campfire and end of the day

– shoes and clothes for the outdoors

Friday is arrival day. You are welcome to come from 16.00h on. You can set up your tents, get familiar with the place and we have dinner together at 19.00h. Program will take place from Saturday morning until Sunday midday
Where: Torrão, Alcacér do Sal
What to expect:
We will be outside the whole time. We will learn skills to live in nature and experience nature really close. What we will learn depends on the weather and the group. The language spoken is english.
Some of our activities: +building a shelter + collecting and filtering of water + different methods to start a fire + building traps (in our course no animals will be harmed, but we practice to set up small traps) + fishing + making cordage + awareness games + bow shooting + clay potery + orientation games
BOW BUILDING Experience for TEENS and ADULTS
Experience some fascinating days around bow and arrow. We will learn how to make a bow out of a piece of wood. We will use hickory or manau to build the bow.
The course takes place on our land in Torrao, Alcacer do Sal and is limited to 5 persons from the age of 12years.
Building a bow and arrows from scratch is like meditation. You have to stay focused and work 3 days straight to turn a piece of wood into a beautiful bow. Your own handmade bow!

It is the end of the summer and we invite you to another family survival camp! Are you ready?

Friday is arrival day. You are welcome to come from 16.00h on. You can set up your tents, get familiar with the place and we have dinner together at 19.00h. Program will take place from Saturday morning until Sunday.
Experience some fascinating days around bow and arrow. We will learn how to make a huntable bow out of a piece of wood. We will use hickory to build the bow.
The course takes place on our land in Torrão, Alcacer do Sal and is limited to 5 teenagers (12-18 years).
In our workshop we have all the equipment to build your longbow. You will sleep in your tent and we will provide you with meals and beverage. We have two bathrooms with shower and compost-toilet. A lake in front of our door to swim and cool down, enjoy pure nature and observe the wildlife will make the weekend real special!

For whom is this course:
This course is for bow building novices (adults and kids). You should be over 12 years old -depending the wood-working skills. If you are unsure if your kid can attent, please contact me.

We are next to a lake, so there is enough time to dip in during hot days!
We live in a fast turning world and lose quite often the contact to nature. In our family survival camp we connect again with the enviroment which surrounds us and learn techniques and skills to live outdoors.
Activities in our camp (will be adapted to group size and weather conditions):

Companion for the kids are free.
The family survival camp is a special event for kids to get in touch with nature. It is all hands on and getting dirty is obligatory!
